Like rocky horror, isn't as funny alone. Having just finished the Criterion Collection release of WC Fields ' The Bank Dick' - a classic slapstick film with one of the greatest and most often copied chase scenes, it's just mediocre alone.
Alas, for an era before laugh tracks, when you needed an audience to laugh with.
